Among a wide range of bird species that call this sanctuary their home, the most notable are Oriental Darter, Heron, Painted Stork, Great Stone Plover, Egret, Indian Shag, Common Spoonbill, Cormorant, Lesser Whistling Duck, etc. 

Several Migratory birds can also be enjoyed here at the sanctuary during the winter season which starts in October and continues until February. The Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary also provides shelter to other creatures like Monitor Lizard, Common Palm Civet, Flying Fox, and Indian Grey Mongoose.
