Day 1: Bangalore to Mysore | Mysore Sightseeing
Depart from Bangalore to Mysore early in the morning. On arrival at Mysore, check-in to the hotel, freshen up and proceed to sightseeing.
1. Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple
An ideal example of a Vijayanagara-style building, Ranganathaswamy Temple is a famous temple in Bangalore’s Kalkunte Agrahara hamlet. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the temple is one of the oldest in Karnataka and was built by King Chikka Deva Raya.
The presiding deity here is said to have been worshipped by Adi Shankara himself. The temple hosts a number of events, the two most popular ones being the Bangalore Karaga Festival and the Chariot Festival (Rathotsavam), which draw tourists and worshippers from all across the nation.
2. Tombs of Tipu Sultan & Hyder Ali/ Gumbaz
Located in Srirangapatnam, the tombs of Hyder Ali (Gumbaz) and Tipu Sultan are a sight worth seeing. Decorated with floral motifs, the Gumbaz houses the grave of Tipu Sultan’s father, Hyder Ali. 3. Jagan Mohan Palace
The Royal family’s retreat home was Jaganmohan Palace, located in the city’s center. It was built in 1861, under the reign of Krishnaraja Wodeyar III, and is now over 150 years old. The palace’s main entryway is a stunning work of art with excellent carvings on both sides. The sculptures depict Dashavatara, one of Lord Vishnu’s ten incarnations. 4. Brindavan Gardens
The Brindavan Gardens in Mysore is one of the most spectacular gardens that India has to offer. 1. Chamundi Hills
Start your Day 2 with a visit to Chamundi Hills, a stunning hill standing at an elevation of 1090 m and provides breathtaking views of the city below. You may clearly see the Mysore Maharaja Palace and Karanji Lake. It also houses the Chamundeswari temple and the old Mahabaleshvara temple, a popular pilgrimage destination. 2. Statue of Mahishasura and Nandi
One of Chamundi Hills’ main draws is an 11 feet statue of the demon Mahishasura that is brightly painted. On the 800th step of the hill, in front of a little Shiva temple, there is a large granite Statue of Nandi adorned with magnificent bells around its neck. It is nearly 15 feet tall and 24 feet long.
3. Mysore Zoological Park
The Mysore Zoo, one of the largest and oldest in India, has a record number of bird species in its care. It is renowned for inhabiting uncommon animal breeds. The Zoological Gardens also have an aquarium and a museum in addition to displaying animals. 4. Mysore Maharaja Palace
