What to Expect
We will start our journey from Bangalore early in the morning around 6 am on Day 1. Our professional chauffeur will pick you from your place of accommodation in Bangalore and we will straight away head for Tirupati. The distance between from Bangalore to Tirupati is approximately 250 km and it will take us around 5 hours to reach Tirupati via NH75 and NH 69.

Padmavathi Temple
Dedicated to Goddess Padmavathi who is also known as the incarnation of Goddess Laxmi, is the Padmavathi Temple. It is located 5 km away from Tirupati. It is said that Goddess Padmavathi was found wrapped in a Lotus flower when the earth was being ploughed during a ritual (Yagna). She was married to Lord Venkateswara(also known as Lord Balaji) of Tirupati, which is why a visit to this temple is a must during your weekend trip from Bangalore to Tirupati Balaji.
There is a Golden idol of Goddess Padmavathi in a sitting posture which is adorned with various kinds of flowers. Apart from the tall temple complex constructed using white marble is a water kund (well), the water of which is said to wash you off your sins.
- Things To Do: One must book an appointment beforehand and take a special Darshan of Goddess Padmavathi. One sit can around the idol and pray to her. Please note that there are Darshan Tickets that one needs to avail for a special price.

Govindaswamy Temple
Popular for being the largest temple complex of the Chittoor district is the Govindaswamy Temple. It was built in the 12th century by Saint Ramanujacharya in devotion of Lord Govinda Swami, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu and the elder brother of Sri Venkateswara Swamy.
It is nestled at the foothills of the Tirumala and is located at a walking distance from the Railway Station and as such is almost always crowded with tourists. There are many intricate carved statues of Lord Rama, Lord Laxman, Goddess Sita and many others which depict various scenes from the epic, Ramayana.
- Things To Do: One must take the Darshan of Lord Govinda Swami, whose idol is made using rock in a sleeping posture. If time permits, one must also try and attend the aarti at the temple.

Kapila Theertham

On the entrance, there is a small temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha, and by its side, you can see a beautiful waterfall cascading down the hill and falling into a small pond.

ISKCON Temple
Although one can visit ISKCON temple at various places across the country, visiting the one in Tirupati is a different feeling altogether. It is one of the largest ISKCON temples in the world.
Its majestic size, stunning architecture in the colours of white and golden and beautiful idols of Goddess Radha & Lord Krishna makes it a must-visit during your Bangalore to Tirupati Balaji 2 day trip in a private cab. Various tourists who are worshippers of Lord Krishna often visit Tirupati from Bangalore primarily to visit the ISKON temple.
The construction of this temple is also interesting. When holy Srila Prabhupada, founder-preceptor of ISKON, visited Tirupati in 1974, he realised that a town with such a spiritual aura and so many temples dedicated to various Gods & Goddesses could be the perfect place for him to preach the teachings of Lord Krishna and the Bhagavad Gita. It was then in the 1980’s when the idea started taking shape with a small ashram and temple being constructed. In 2005, the ISKON temple as it is today was opened to the public.
- Things To Do: One of the most striking features of this ISKCON temple is the presence of a Goshala (cow shed) which houses over a hundred cows. Do visit it and feed the cows and oxen after with prior permission from the authorities.

Tirumala Tirupati Balaji Temple
Our Second Day of Tirupati Sightseeing will begin with paying a visit to the world-renowned Tirumala Tirupati Balaji Temple. It is the key attraction of Tirupati that makes thousands of tourists visit Tirupati every day.
The temple has gained immense popularity because it is said that Lord Vishnu took the form of Lord Balaji in order to save the earth from the catastrophe of the Kali Yuga. It is also popular for the self-built statue of him.
It is advisable to pre-book the darshan to avoid huge lines. Despite the crowd, the temple is well managed and well maintained.
The structure of the temple is a classic example of the Dravidian style of architecture. In fact, various temples of South India have been inspired by the architecture of Tirumala Tirupati Balaji Temple.
The most striking feature of this temple is the main shrine known as the ‘Ananda Nilayam’. It is gold plated and houses the idol of Lord Balaji. The other noteworthy feature is the holy pond that is spread over one and a half acres known as the ‘Swami Pushkarni’.

Silathoranam

This naturally formed monument is also tied with different versions of history. While some say that the measurements of the arch are equivalent to the size of the idol at Tirumala Tirupati Balaji Temple, some say that Lord Vishnu’s second step was placed at the spot of the arch.

Papavinasam Theertham
Literally meaning, eradicating the sins, Papavinasam Theertham is a small holy pond, the water of which has the magical powers of atoning one of their sins. There are various hill originated waterfalls, the water of which falls into the pond.
The pond is also surrounded by various gardens that one visit to relax, rest and bask under the sun. Being surrounded by hills, Papavinasam Theertham also attracts tourists for its natural beauty.
- Things To Do: Take a dip into the holy water of the pond. If not, you can even spray its water over your body.

Akash Ganga Theertham

One needs to walk approximately two hundred steps down the road to reach the Akash Ganga Theertham.
There is a Devi temple a few metres away from the waterfall which is visited by most tourists visiting Akash Ganga Theertham. It is said that the water from this sacred waterfall is used to perform all the rituals of the Tirumala Tirupati Balaji Temple.

Sri Venugopala Swamy Temple
Sri Venugopala Swamy Temple is the last place to be visited in your 2 day tour. Located 58 km away from Tirupati, we will be visiting this temple on our way back to Bangalore from Tirupati.
This temple has a great story. During the construction of the Krishna Raja Sagara (KRS) Dam in 1909, the entire village of Kannambadi was submerged including the temple. Interestingly, the temple would always resurface whenever the water level was low. After lying submerged for approximately 70 years, the temple was restored by the Khoday Foundation at a distance of 1.5 km from the original site.
Painted in pastel shades of Blue & Lemon, this temple is devoted to Lord Venugopalan (also known as Lord Krishna). There is an idol of the presiding deity with a flute and a pot of butter. It also has the idols of his consorts Rukmini and Satyabhama.
- Things To Do: Walk around the temple complex and see the minute sculptures being drawn of various characters and episodes from the Ramayana. If possible, watching sunset overlooking the KRS dam is a sight to hold.
